In June 2020, we will be offering a two-week Chinese language program in partnership with the Confucius Institute in Western Kentucky. (The 2020 summer classes have been postponed. Watch for updates.)
Native Chinese teachers with the Confucius Institute will engage students in an immersion program with a fresh curriculum focusing not only on language content but useful language skills with a robust infusion of culture, activities, and special events.
The Confucius Institute in Western Kentucky has been operating since 2010 and, since then, has been placing teachers from China in K-12 schools throughout Kentucky. It serves as a regional hub for Chinese teacher training and curriculum development.
We first partnered with Confucius Institute to offer Mandarin classes in 2019 and it was a great success! Our middle and high school students were excited to learn tai chi, music, paper folding, fan dancing, and mask painting, along with beginning, or improving, their Chinese language learning.
Tuition in 2020 is just $50 for the full two weeks language enrichment program. Students who attended in previous years may request a tuition fee waiver.
