Tea Event/ Ceremony

The evenig will begin with a Japanese tea ceremony demonstration by Keiko Kuwabara of the Great Louisville Japan Center. Next, Jewel's Tea House will discuss different varieties of loose tea, how to brew tea, and will offer a sample of oolong tea. Finally, John Conti Coffee Co. will talk about iced teas, the areas from where John Conti imports tea, and will offer an iced tea sample.

Cost: $10.00 per person,or $15.00 per couple.

Crane House, in collaboration with Jefferson Public Schools and University of Louisville, will soon accept applications for the 2012 STARTALK- Crane House Chinese Language Institute. The 3‐week program develops listening, speaking, reading and writing skills for Chinese and it expands Chinese cultural experiences in a fun and energetic immersion program setting.

INSTITUTE DATES: July 9 through July 27, 2012


SITE: Atherton High School

3000 Dundee Road

Louisville, KY 40205


DAILY CLASS SCHEDULE: 8:30 AM – 1:30 PM
Daily class room sessions, field trips & other cultural activities


FEE: No tuition or charges


DEPOSIT: $150 required
(deposit is refundable only upon successful completion of program)


NUMBER OF AVAILABLE SPOTS: 50

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Students who are rising 6th through graduating 12th graders
  • Students in public, private, parochial, and home schools
  • Students in Kentucky and Southern Indiana
  • Students who are highly motivated to learn Chinese language and culture
  • Students who have novice to intermediate Chinese language skills

UNIVERSITY AND HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT

  • High school credit awarded based on program completion & base school approval
  • University of Louisville credits awarded based on qualifications
